At first glance this seems so simple! But in fact, this is a powerful tool for mathematical learning as we head into concepts such as repeated groupings, multiplication and division.

Using dot cards is a great way to promote conceptual subitizing. Students are given a series of dots that are hidden. Students are then asked to share how they "see" the dots prior to any discussion about how many dots there are. By leveraging spatial reasoning, students can more easily access questions and begin to think about using mathematical operations.

SCIENCE:


We did ROCK TEST CENTRE'S ACROSS 5 CLASSES!

Ms. Fournier's class set up a rock hardness testing lab! We used the Moh's hardness scale to guide our testing to determine the hardness of our rock samples. Students got to be geologists and use to same tools, such as; talc, fluorite, glass plate, steel nail, copper penny, quartz and corundum, to find the hardness of their rocks.
